ABRAHAM! (Part #1)

God speaks to Abram: “Leave your country...go to a land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation...I will make your name great...all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” So Abram left, as the Lord had told him.” (Gen.12:1-4 NIV)

“By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.” (Heb.11:8 NIV)

Imagine! Abraham hears God’s call and promises, and he trusted God enough to obey the call.  Even as he was leaving Ur, his home town, some would be asking; “where are you going, Abraham?  His answer; “I am not sure.”  He takes the challenge of God’s promise and began a journey..

The Christian life is very similar.  To his first disciples, Christ said, “Come, follow me and I will make you...”(Mk.1:17)  They knew who Jesus was, and in faith these men accepted the challenge and began to follow.  Peter called true believers, “Strangers and pilgrims.”(1Pet.2:11)  This does not necessarily mean a physical move, though that may happen.  It is a change of priorities, and a call to open our hearts, and begin a walk of faith. We are going to trust him who has purpose for us.  And out of that faith walk, we will fulfil something God had planned for us long ago.

We may seem so small in relation to purposes of the almighty, eternal God, but he has set in motion his plans to use humans to accomplish things that will last forever.  Read the scriptures; you see Him using various people with different abilities. This is for you; today!  Become a follower of Christ; continue to follow Christ.  In the end you will be so glad.
