In Psalm 73, we see a man who has lost sight of the value of his relationship with God. He begins to envy the people who have chosen to live only for themselves. These people seem to be getting all the good things and he seems to be losing out. In frustration, he seeks God and the Lord shows him what is truly valuable. “Yet I still belong to you; you hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny” (Ps.73:23-24 NLT) Notice the closeness; “I belong to you (God). You hold my hand. You instruct me. You are leading me to a glorious eternity.”  He now sees the value of a close relationship with God. It’s an adventure with God, who brings him to a glorious ending

In Ps. 32, God speaks to the one who has been honest with God. He has confessed his sins and received forgiveness. Look at God’s promise to this one. “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” (v8 NLT)  He begins a lifetime  adventure with God leading and protecting.

In John 10, Jesus tells us he is the good shepherd and he knows his sheep.(v14)  Jesus stays with them even in times of trouble and temptation.(V11-13)  His purpose is to lead and give them a worthwhile and satisfying life. Something of eternal value is accomplished through them. (V10) The enemy of our soul offers, as he did Jesus, a life of self-centered pleasure that is short lived.(Lu.4:5-8).  Christ offers to lead us personally, through this life, into God’s eternal plan.

I am challenged by Christ and his message. I hope you are too.  Jesus’ love and faithfulness entices us to trust and follow him. Let’s adventure with him and see all that he will accomplish that lasts forever.
