Recently I heard a commercial on television.  It caught my attention.  This man was talking about a new medical treatment, he had found, that would give a bright future for him and his family. Almost all are looking for a way or ways that will secure or enhance the remaining years of our lives on earth.

I could not help but compare this to the Biblical challenge of eternal life.  The unfolding of God’s plan for mankind is so wonderful as the scriptures tell us of God’s love and faithfulness to work and bring about his purpose for humanity.  Everyone is included!

God speaks to Abraham that through his offspring “all the world would be blessed.” (Gen.12:3)

Then he tells us that through the Jewish tribe of Judah this promise would come, and then.this one to bless the world would come through king David, born in Bethlehem.

We are told through the prophet Isaiah (53) that this one would take our sins upon himself, pay

its penalty, and free us to receive God’s blessings. It was Jesus who came just as it was predicted. Born in Bethlehem. Died on a Roman cross, and raised literally from the dead.

He was seen alive by many.(1 Co.15  ) He told his first disciples to go into all the world and preach the Gospel (good news) to all mankind. That work continues today.

I mentioned the commercial that would help this man for a few years in this present life. However, God is offering to all men and women; everywhere; eternal life through Jesus Christ.  “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn mankind, but to save it.” (Jn.3:17) This is the lasting bright future!! It is not a quick or temporary blessing  What shall we do?  Humble ourselves, come to Christ, trust and follow him. Then this gift  is ours!
