“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hand have touched-this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.  The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.” (1Jn.1;1-2 NIV)

John was one of the twelve apostles chosen by Christ. They were sent out to give a message and bear witness of him.  John tells us that this one was around at the beginning, was with and came from the Father (God) and was manifest to these men. John says “We have heard him;” “We have seen him;” We have touched him.”  He was and is real, and he is eternal life.

Facing persecution, torture and death, they would not compromise the message that was given to them, in person, by Jesus Christ.  Most paid for their commitment with their lives. Jesus is real and these men had a relationship to him!

John also gives us the purpose of their proclamation.  “We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.”(1Jn.1:3NIV)  The new testament was written to tell and help all, who would believe, to live in fellowship, a real relationship, with God.  That is the message and you can have this!  Not an outward religion but a relationship with Christ.  Every barrier is moved out the way. Through Christ your sins are forgiven and you are given a new life within. Go for an ever deepening relationship!  Jesus is real and he wants this for you.
