“People are often unreasonable and self-centered, Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives.  Be kind anyway.

If you are honest, people may cheat  you.  Be honest anyway.

If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough.  Give your best anyway.

For you see, in the end, it is between you and God.  It was never between you

and them anyway.” --Mother Teresa

Sometime ago I heard of the story of two men going to a newsstand to buy the morning

paper.  As one was asking for the paper, the newsstand operator was not very helpful and even rude. However, the man purchasing the paper did not get upset, and thanked the

operator as he left.  The second man commented on his actions.  You should have been angry and rebuked the operator. He was so rude.  The man who purchased the paper said,

“Why should I let the bad attitude of another cause me to act in the same way.”

Life is not always fair.  Circumstances do not always fall into place as we would like.  Problems arise that are unexpected.  Many times people may treat us in ways that are not

right.  If our life turns into a life of reactions, we will be constantly upset, discouraged or angry.  The apostle tells us: “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Ro.12:21)

We, as Christians, have been freely given a new life in Christ.  Let’s make it our aim in life to walk out this new life; the very life of God. We give up a self-centered life for one that is centered in God; pleasing him.  Let this be our goal.
