“...a faithful man who can find? (Prov.20:6)

“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, Just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” (Eph.5:1 NIV)  “You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature, rather, serve one another in love.” (Gal.5:13 NIV)

When many think of freedom they think of a liberty to think and do what pleases them; what gives them the most pleasure.  It is very self-centered. Yet, in the end there is little real satisfaction; many times only emptiness. “Beloved, let us love one another for love is of God and everyone that loves is born of God. For God is love.” (1Jn.4:7-8)  Jesus said, “This is my commandment that you love one another. Love one another as I have loved you.” (Jn.13:34) “As you have opportunity do good to all men, especially those of the household of faith.” (Gal.6:10)

These words come from the scriptures and encourage us to live this kind of life. God is the one who makes opportunities. He opens doors for service.  He give us abilities to make money, then we have opportunities to help others, give to missionary work, be a blessing in many ways. Jesus said, it is more blessed to give than to receive.  There is great peace in living a life of service; giving of our time, talent and finances. In all of this, we lay up treasure in a kingdom that will last forever.  Let’s be faithful. Let’s start now; where we are. There will be great joy when we stand before Christ one day.
