“...a faithful man who can find?” (Prov.20:6)

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that you present your bodies a living sacrifice , holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” (Ro.12:1 NKJV)  Because of God’s mercy to us through Jesus, our response is to present ourselves to God for his service. It is an act of worship.  Jesus told his first disciples: “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last.”(Jn.15:16 NIV)    The world about us sets their minds primarily on living for themselves, seeking the best to promote and satisfy themselves. But God has shown us a better way. We are to put ourselves in the hands of the Lord, and let him lead us in his plans which will have lasting value and blessing.

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Eph.2:10 NIV)  God is not trying to figure out something to do with us when we come to Christ.  He has already planned some purpose(s) for us.

“It  will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so (fulfilling his duties) when he (the master) returns.” (Matt.24:46)  It is not how big our calling is in our eyes or the eyes of others.. It is being faithful to that which God wants to do in and through our lives.  Many times we look at people who have large ministries, and think their service is what truly counts. This can lead to lack of diligence in our own lives.

“You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.”  (Mt. 25:21 NIV)  Faithful to finish our calling truly counts!
