FINISHING THE WORK! (Part #2) 3-12-2017

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Eph.2;10 NIV) Even before we were born God had prepared a plan for our lives. Paul writes to Timothy, (God) has saved us and called us to a holy life--not because of anything we have done, but because of his purpose and grace. This grace was given in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.” (2 Tim.1:9 NIV) This includes God’s purpose for you and me, but and the grace (God’s unmerited ability) to accomplish it fully.  “...for It is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.” (Phil.2:13 NIV)

Our life on this small planet is not an accident, but is a plan by an infinite, eternal God.

He chooses us to cooperate with him; to accomplish a work that will have results in this life and will affect eternity. That is why we are encouraged in so many places to take seriously and give ourselves to the Lord, who will be faithful to lead us and work through us, along with other believers, to finish his work.

In 1 Co.12, The apostle Paul uses the illustration of a human body, in speaking of the ministry of the Church of Jesus Christ. (The church is made up of all those around the world, who have come to Christ and trusted him as Lord and savior)  We cannot say, “because I am not an eye,I do not belong to the body.” (v16) God set each member in the body as he wills. He has an important purpose for each member. “The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I don’t need you.’” (v21)  We all need each other, working together, to fulfill the calling of the Church of Christ.
