Soon after I returned from Japan in 1957, I went to my father’s office one day to share with him what had happened to me during my time in Japan. In November of 1956, my life had changed when I met Jesus Christ. I wanted to tell my dad all about it.  After I had finished, he told me what had happened to him many years before.  He had gone to a gospel camp meeting that had been continuing for a number days. After the preaching, a call was given for those who would like to come, pray and receive Christ into their lives.  He went forward and others had prayed with him. but afterwards he did not feel satisfied.  Dad told me, “So I went off by myself and prayed until I was satisfied.”

The Apostle John says; “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know you have eternal life.” “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1Jn.5:13,12 NIV)

The Apostle Paul writes, “The (Holy) Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.” (Ro.8:16 NIV) The witness of the Holy Spirit gives assurance to all believers in Christ that something real from God has happened to them. This can happen in different ways, but the witness can be sure. In a world that frequently is not interested or even hostile to this, God makes his forgiveness and presence real.

In no way does this say that we are perfect or better than others.  This reality is given to us freely, by God’s grace, and is the beginning of a relationship with God that is to grow and grow for the rest of our lives. It is available to all.  Be sure you are satisfied!
