“He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then he said, ‘write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’” (Rev.21:5 NIV)

In the past three articles we have been looking at the process of God as he begins  “making all things new.”  It is possible because of Christ’s work on the cross.  He died for our sins; the righteous one for the unrighteous, that we might come near to God.(I Pet.3:18)

If any man is in Christ, he is a new creature!  God begins by forgiving our sins, giving us a new standing with him. He gives us a new life, as he places his Spirit within each true believer.  He begins a process of making us more and more like his son, as we trust and follow him. One day, when Jesus returns, God will give us a new body, like the one Jesus has. It will be eternal.

Finally, there will be a new heaven and earth. “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, there was no long any sea.” (Rev.21:1) Heaven is not sitting on a cloud, strumming a harp.  It will all be very real, with God’s purposes for eternity being fulfilled. All praise to God and his son!

What shall you do in light of these truths?  Come to Christ and give yourself to him. He will forgive and give you a new life.  As believers, let’s present ourselves to him; yield our lives to him. He has a plan for us all to fulfill in this life. We are building for the eternal, not just the temporary, present world. We are not foolish to give what we cannot keep to gain what we cannot lose!
