“...without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” (Heb.11:6 NIV)

A missionary friend of mine told me a true story that happened years ago. The chief witch doctor, in a village in Suriname, S.A, began to desire to know the highest god. He began to seek him in prayer.  One day he had a vision and saw a beautiful city, but he was told he was unworthy to enter that city. He saw others he knew in the vision. They also could not enter. The person speaking to this witch doctor, told him that the one true God, had sent his Son to earth to make a way so that all people could enter the city. He was given the gospel message. He was also told that a man would someday come to his village with a black book, and would explain God’s way more fully.

When the vision was over, the witch doctor commanded all witchcraft and idol worship to cease.  All idols were thrown out of the village.. It was known in the area as the only village idolatry was forbidden. They honored this one true God. Many years later, this missionary friend of mine, came to this village with his black Bible. He was the one God sent; the one who would come and explain God’s way more fully.

This witch doctor believed the highest God existed and it was worthwhile to seek and find him. Just as the verse above declares, God will meet the person who does the same. It is so easy in our world to go after things that are not true and lasting, but God promises his reality as we seek him.  Jesus made the way to God, so we all may find him!
