God's Love in Christ! 01-23-11

Love found a way to redeem my soul.
Love found a way that would make me whole.
Love sent my Lord to the cross of shame.
Love found a way; O Praise his holy name!

To free me and others from the guilt and power of our sins was very costly. Being righteous himself, God could not just wave his hand, and say all is forgiven.
There had to be justice in dealing with our transgressions.  Someone had to pay the penalty for us so that God could be righteous as he forgave and helped us out of our helpless dilemma.

Because we have heard the story of God’s love in Christ so many times, our hearts may be calloused toward this wonderful truth told again.  As religions around the world point us to religious acts and ceremonies, or acts of kindness on our part to satisfy the justice of God, we tend to forget the incredible kindness of God and this story of love.  We cannot cover our sins with good works; all of these are like filthy rags in trying to pacify God.  The Bible message of salvation is so much different.

When we were helpless, Christ died for the ungodly. (Ro.5:6)  God in Christ did for us what we could not do for ourselves.  The Just one (Christ) died for the unjust (you and me) to bring us to God. (1Pet.3:18)  Christ loved us and gave himself for us. (Eph. 5:2)

If we face honestly our sins and stop making excuses, stop attempting a cover-up;
If we come clean and admit our need of a savior; then we can simply come to Christ and our sins, which are so many, will be forgiven.  When facing the judgment of God one day, we will be found innocent.  Why?  Jesus paid the price for us, and we accepted his salvation.  Choose God’s plan; it is the only one that works!
