“...the people grew impatient on the way; they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the desert?  There is no bread!  There is no water!  And we detest this miserable food! (Nu.21:4-5 NIV)  Actually, they were going to the promised land, a land flowing with Milk and Honey; a land of great blessing, being led by the one true God.

We are called to trust and follow Jesus. As someone has said; “we are not called to trials, but through them.”  Trials, difficulties, hard situations are the means to an end.  “All things are working together for good for those who love God and are called according to his purpose. (Ro.8:28)  The Apostle Peter, encourages us as “strangers and pilgrims” in this world.  We are only passing through heading for something much better; promised by God.

Even though we have heard some of these biblical teachings before, it is easy to fall into the common attitude that plagued ancient Israel: murmuring and complaining because of the way.

The Apostle Paul tells us to submit ourselves to God and obey him, working out our salvation with awe and respect for God. Paul challenges us to “Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe…” (Phil.2:12-15)

In walking this way, we may be used of God, to challenge and encourage others to join us on our journey to God’s best, that is yet to come. It is a sure thing because it is promised by God himself! We are to live and walk by faith!
