Paul urges you and I to live a life worthy of our calling in the Body of Christ.(The Church)

“Be completely humble and gentle (meek); be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” (Eph.4:1-3 NIV)

The church is called the body of Christ. It is an organism that has the very life of Christ within.

The same life in the head (Jesus) is in every member of the body. “Christ in you!” (Col.1:27). “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit…” (1 Co.6:19 NIV)

“The body is a unit; though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. so it is with Christ...Now the body is not made up of one part but of many…” (1 Co.12:12 NIV) Just because we are not like some other Christian, does not mean we have no value in Christ’s body.  Neither can we say “we don’t need others in the body.”(1 Co.12:14-18) God places us in the body as it pleases him.  As we accept one another and work together, God will accomplish his work through his body.  He will express his life, and reality through his body. What a calling!

A humble attitude is so important, this keeps us God centered rather than self-centered. Life is not to revolve around me only, but Christians working together; listening to one another, adjusting and cooperating.  God blesses and gives fruitfulness, as we team up in heart and action. “Make every effort” we are told!

Jesus humbled himself and became obedient (Phil.2:8) Let’s make that our goal. Let’s do our part, whether small or great in man’s sight, to see God’s work accomplished for now and eternity.
