JESUS PAID IT ALL! 1-25-2015

“Jesus paid it all, all to him I owe, Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow. And when before the throne, I stand in him complete; Jesus died my soul to save, My lips shall still repeat.” This hymn still expresses simply the message of God’s love and grace offered to all through Jesus Christ and his death on the cross.

The Apostle said it this way; “You see, just at the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly...But God demonstrates his own love in this: while we were still sinners Christ died for us.” (Ro.5:6,8 NIV)

Jesus gives a parable about two men who approach God.  A religious man comes telling him his many good deeds he has accomplished, and telling God he is so glad he not like the  man standing nearby.  The other man does not even look up, but asks God to be merciful to him, a sinner.  Jesus says the second man is accepted before God. (Lu.18:9-14)

The thief, crucified in the same manner as Jesus, hanging on a cross, honestly acknowledges that he deserves his penalty.  Yet, he asks Christ to “remember him when he comes into his kingdom.”  Jesus’ reply: “This day you will be with me in paradise.”(Lu.23:40-43)

There is much religious activity in the world; people hoping that actions will make them acceptable before God. Also many are discouraged and feel hopeless because of honestly seeing the shortcomings in their lives. Many times it is harder for the first group to come God’s way than the other.  We are not forgiven by God because of our “good” or “religious” deeds. Come to God honestly, and ask for forgiveness because of Christ’s death in your place. He forgives freely. Jesus paid it all!    .
