John 6:1-14!  This is the apostle John’s account of Jesus feeding the 5000 men plus the women and children. It is a teaching lesson as we face the challenges, some unexpected, as we live the Christian life in serving the Lord.

First, we see Jesus confronted with a need; a large hungry crowd. The first wonderful truth that encourages is “Jesus already know what he was going to do.”  In our lives, as we face challenges, God already knows how he is going to work it out . God is  never “ringing his hands,” wondering what he is going to do. A little boy had 5 loaves of bread and 2 small fish. Certainly not enough to feed a multitude. It is so easy to not use what we have because it seems so small to meet the great need. What is my little help compared to the great need?

What does Jesus do?  He takes the bread and fish and gives thanks to God for them. He does not complain about the little amount. He gives thanks for the little and then begins to use it. It is so important to make available to God what we have with thanksgiving.”In everything give thanks!” (1Thess.5:18) Jesus begins to use what God has provided. That is when the miracle takes place.

We never know what God will do unless we trust him enough to;put to use what God has given; do it with thanksgiving and see what the Lord will do. Remember, the Lord already knows what he is going to do.The good works have been planned in advance for us to do. (Eph.2:10)

Our Lord set a good example for us to follow and God will work through us to accomplish his plan, help people and bring glory to God.
