“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (Jn.3:16 NIV)

“God so loved the world.”  It is God who has taken the initiative to help mankind out of its terrible fate. God has reached out to his fallen, human creation and made a way for man’s return to God. “You see, just at the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly...God demonstrates his own love in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Ro.5:6,8 NIV)   This is called the GOOD NEWS.  Jesus told his first disciples to take this good news to all the world.  This is continuing in our day.

“Whosoever believes in him shall not perish”  When we hear the good news, the challenge to us is to believe.  When I was about 12 years old, I was told that if I believed in Jesus, I would be forgiven and have eternal life. I remember mentally saying, “I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe he died for me. I believe that he rose from from the dead.” Yet, something was wrong!  I thought that mentally saying I believe was true faith.  However, believing means to trust with the heart. Ask him to forgive you and take over our lives. He is alive and will answer all who call on him.(Acts 2:21)

Jesus is God’s savior!  Come to him! Trust him and ask him to come into your life. He is faithful to  help those who come to him. He will be your good shepherd who will lead your life into God’s best now and share his heaven with you forever.
