“...I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.” (2Tim.2:10 NIV)  “For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved. Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” (1Co.10:33-11:1 NIV)  The words of the Apostle Paul.

The apostle is telling us to follow his example as he follows Christ himself. Jesus went about helping, healing, encouraging and challenging others. His final act on earth was to “die for others; you and me.” In the end, Christ has been exalted eternally to the highest place.

Especially in ! Co. 9 &10, Paul speaks of his rights as a man and minister of Christ. Yet,

he did not take advantage of these rights. so there would be no hinderance to his message of Christ and his salvation. He did not want to place a stumbling block in anyone’s way.  He wanted to do everything possible to bring people to Christ.  He speaks of running a race to win a prize. In this life, men control their eating and activities to win temporary crowns, but in the Christian’s life we are to discipline ourselves to win a crown that lasts forever.

(! Co.9:24-27)

The Lord Jesus said, “If anyone would come after me. he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” (Lu.9:23 NIV)  However. it is not a call to strict religious rules and ceremonies, but a call to live a life in helping and serving others. Christ said, “...whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Mt.25:40 NIV)  Living a lifestyle like this, has an eternal reward!
