“But if I go to the east he is not there; if I go to the west, I do not find him.  When he is at work in the north, I do not see him; when he turns to the south, I catch no glimpse of him.  But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.”

(Job.23:8-10 NIV)

There are three important truths that will help us see Job’s faith.  They are very practical in helping us walk this way.  “Without faith it is impossible to please God” (Heb.11:6)

First, Job does not know why these disasters have come on him. In the following verses of Job 23, He tells us clearly that he is walking in a clear conscience before God.  As he looks in every direction, he sees no purpose in these trials.  In our lives, it seems God is “no where to be found.”

The second truth is always true. “He knows the path I take.”  The God, who has shown us the way of salvation, knows all about our situation, our struggles, our weaknesses our battles. This God, who did not spare his Son, but gave him to free us from our old life of sin, has his eye on us continually, controlling the trial(s).  He allows us to go through all kinds of challenges. His ways are perfect. He is at work!.

Finally, the end is always good; “I shall come forth as gold.”  Something wonderful and worthwhile will be accomplished through the trial as we keep trusting and following Christ! See the end of Job in Chapter 42.  He has a greater understanding of God, and God brings a great “turn around” in his situation. We are disciples of Christ, learning and following him leads us to a promised and wonderful end.
