“A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.” (Proverbs 22:3 NIV)

In this verse, one sees trouble coming and makes provision so that he can handle the approaching danger.  The other pays little or no attention to his life or future.  The result is suffering because he lives only for the moment and makes no provision for his future challenges.

It is good to stop and consider in which category do we fall. Are we considering what is happening in a temporary world, and our future in relationship to it?  Living in America, we can think things are going to continue as is, and we are going to have a good, long life.  In facing death one day (maybe sooner than later), have we considered what is going to happen when we pass into the life to come?.

Some say; “That is too difficult to really know.  Let the preachers and priests figure that out.” Often time, it takes some kind of a jolt to help us take seriously what is really going on  and what the future may hold.

My jolt came as a friend, years ago, told me  about finding Christ alive and real, and he knew his many sins were forgiven. and because of that, there was a wonderful eternity ahead with God. This awakened me to consider the future, and I found the same Jesus; real and forgiving.  This changed my life and set me on a new path. living for Christ and his eternal kingdom.
What is so wonderful is this gift from God is available to all.  It is good to be prudent, consider the short life we have here, and seek the life that will last forever.  Jesus will give this to all who will turn to him, trust and follow him. It is real!
