“Martha, are worried and upset by many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better.” (Mary sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.)  Martha was busy with many things, which were not evil things; just busy. However, Mary made the decision, while Jesus was there, to take the opportunity to stop, sit down and listen. She chose the one important thing;.communing with Christ!

Relationship with Christ is not just a one time experience, but something important to continually develop. Sometimes adjustments need to be made in our routine to make a way for the “one important thing.”  Relationship with the Lord, is a primary action of a life that counts with God

“We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also might have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.” (1 Jn.1:3 NIV)These apostles were those chosen to carry the message of Christ to the ends of the earth. They had heard him and seen him. They had touched him. The thing that gave them joy was to share with others about Jesus and what he taught.  Why?  So others could experience the fellowship and reality of Jesus and God himself.  John, Peter, Matthew and Paul wrote of Christ; pointing people to him and through him to the eternal God.  We are called to the fellowship of God!

If you need to get up a little earlier; make some time during the day; stay up a little later in the evening. It is well worth it. The Lord will fellowship with you. He longs for it. He will guide you, instruct you. Sometime directly; other times through others. You will get to know him better. This is the one important thing and so worthwhile!
