Relationship is so important to God that he took the initiative to get it started. “This is love: not that we loved God, but that God loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins”.(1 Jn.4-10 NIV) It is a love relationship with God. His love is perfect. Ours grows as we trust and follow him.

Notice what God is after: “A people for himself.” (Acts 15:14)  “A people belonging to God.” (1 Pet.2:9) “A people for his very own.” (Tit.2:14)  “God called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord!”(1 Co.1:9) “We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.” (1 Jn.1:3 NIV)

Today the word Christian can mean various things.  It could be a  person who has accepted a set of religious rules or statements.  It could be a person who has joined a religious group. It could be a person who just chooses to take that name for himself.

“The disciples were first called Christians at Antioch.” (Acts 11:26 NIV) They were followers of Christ!

Jesus died for our sins, and on the third day was raised from the dead.  He is alive!

He appeared to many after his resurrection. He is the way to forgiveness of our sins and a new life of reality with God. You can see that demonstrated over and over as you read

the book of Acts in the Bible. The coming of the Holy Spirit was real. Jesus promised that the Spirit would dwell in believers and make the things of Christ real to them.(Jn.14-16)  Don’t settle for anything but a true relationship with God!
