The Apostle John says, “We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ.” (1Jn.1:3 NIV)  The Apostle had seen, touched and heard Jesus for approximately 3 years. Now they were telling others that they also could have fellowship with God and his Son.

The Christian life is all about a real and active relationship with Jesus who died for your sins and mine. He was literally raised from the dead. We can trust him, and he will teach us, lead us, strengthen us. We will come to know him better.  We can grow and deepen our relationship with him.

As a new Christian, I was challenged by the Lord to “make yourself available.”  I was married and worked six days a week. To get definite about this, I would get up daily at 5 am and spend an hour in prayer and the scriptures. The first day I fell asleep when I knelt to pray, so I began to walk, pray and read. It was the beginning of something real with Christ.

Jesus was very busy in ministry so he would rise early and go spend time in prayer, fellowshipping with God. (See Lu.4:42, 5:16, 6:12-16) Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can only do what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does.” (Jn.5:19-20 NIV)  God loves us and will lead our lives into his best as we spend time with him.    .
