“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and

praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness

continues through all generations.” (Ps.100:4-5 NIV)

The writer is speaking of approaching God; coming into his presence. It is to be with

thanksgiving and praise. It is so easy to forget this. I remember, a number of years ago, I

slipped out of bed early and had gone to our living room. As I knelt to pray, I could only think

of how tired and weary I felt. My first words were something like this; “Lord, I feel so lousy. I

don’t think I am going to get much accomplished today.” I was surprised and challenged

as these words came to me; “There is nothing wrong with me!” The Lord was reminding

me of his condition.

The Lord is good, his love and faithfulness continues forever. We are told, and need reminding often, that “the just shall live by faith.” Not faith in our feelings, our circumstances our own limited abilities, but faith in the living God and his Son, whose love and faithfulness to

you and me lasts forever.

The American day of National Thanksgiving is near, and I would like to remind all,

whether American or not; let’s come to God with thanksgiving and praise. Why? You

can trust God in your circumstances for he is leading you as the Good Shepherd. His ways

are perfect with the best results. Start your day(s) with praise. He is worthy! Consider all the

ways he has helped you and continues to help. Think of all he has promised to do in the future; throughout all the ages to come. He has begun a work in us, and his love and faithfulness continues forever.
