“Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before his presence with singing; Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of his pasture.” (Ps.100:2-3 NKJV)  He is our God! He has given us a new life in Christ! We belong to him!

So many times our joyful service is linked to our circumstances and emotions rather than truth.

If so, gladness is a missing ingredient.. What does the Bible say in these important matters?

In 1 Corinthians Chap.7, the Apostle tells us three times(v17,20,24) that we should acknowledge God and live with God in the situation we are presently in. He even speaks to slaves to serve their masters as they would serve Christ.  No matter what your situation, it is an opportunity to serve as to the Lord.  As he leads or circumstances require, these may change. Walk and serve in peace; God is with you. The Apostle encourages the Colossian Christians (3:23-24)  “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, and not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.  It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Wow!  What freedom!

Again, the Apostle speaks to the Philippian Christians; “Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine as lights in the universe…” (2:14-15 NIV)

Everything is working together for our good. God’s purpose is to make us more and more like his Son,and all things work for that purpose.  We are to trust him in all situations. We are on our way to an eternity with our God; serving him in the best way possible.  Serve the Lord with gladness!
