“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as for the Lord and not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.  It is the Lord you are serving.” (Col.3:23-24 NIV)

A true story:  A young man had spent a few years in the Navy. He had trained in communication and wanted to find work in that field after he was discharged. However, as he searched about in this community he was in, there did not seem to be openings in that field. He was discouraged. The only job he could find was cutting and trimming the grass and bushes at the Air Force Base.  He took the job, but was complaining to many that it was not what he wanted to do. He was thrilled with communication and that only would satisfy him. On day someone shared with him the scripture mentioned above. He was a new Christian and wanted to please God. It dawned on him what he should do. From that day on, as went to work, he would start thanking God  for the job and worked at doing the best he could on the lawn and bushes. He was now doing it for God and not just for men.

We are not rewarded for “spiritual” activities only, (going to church, duties related to  christian missions, prayer, Bible reading, etc.)  Whatever we do in this life, we can and should do it as serving the Lord. We are to see him in all things.  From him we shall receive eternal rewards. Whatever God has given you to do, whether big or small, do it with a whole heart. You are happy and payday is coming!  As new opportunities open up, you may make changes if you desire, and continue serving Christ in all things! You are pleasing the Lord and being a testimony to others.     .
