“Come thou fount of every blessing.  Tune my heart to sing thy grace!

Streams of mercy never ceasing calls for songs of loudest praise.

Teach me some melodious sonnet sung by flaming tongues above.

Praise the mount, I’m fixed upon it, mount of thy redeeming love.”

He is asking God for a greater heart to worship. Paul tells us to be filled with the Spirit, speaking to ourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. Singing and making melody in our hearts to the Lord. Worship is not just for Sunday. We can do it all the time; a heart and mouth honoring the Lord. Why not ask him!

“Open my eyes that I may see glimpses of truth thou hast for me.

Place in my hand that wonderful key that will unclasp and set me free.

Silently now I wait for thee. Ready, my God, thy will to see.

Open my eyes illumine me, Spirit Divine!”

He is yearning for God to open his word to him in a greater way. He wants to understand more clearly; seeing God’s ways and purposes. “If you continue in my word, you are my disciples indeed, and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” (Jn.8:31-32)

“Have thine own way, Lord.  Have thine own way.

Thou art the potter. I am the clay.

Mold me and make me after thy will.

While I am waiting, yielded and still.”

A longing heart that yields to God. Guide me! Help me to know and follow you!

Work in my life your perfect will. Accomplish your purpose in and through me.

Let’s join these songwriters in heart and action;going after the things that are

truly worthwhile. You can sing and thank God each morning, asking him to lead

you on into a greater relationship with him. God is waiting for you!
