SURROUNDED BY WITNESSES! (Part #5) 9-1-2013

What a witness Abraham is; even today!  Trusting God, he obeyed the call of God to go into land he would later inherit.  As he started, Abraham did not even know where he was going. (Heb.11:8)  Imagine the challenge! He trusted God in stepping out to adventure with him.

Trusting God, Abraham lived in this land of promise, even though he owned nothing there.  He lived in tents waiting for the promise to be fulfilled.  He did not raise an army to fight, but waited, believing God would fulfil his promise.  It was 400 years later that the promise was fulfilled.(Ps.105:8-42)  God watches over his promises to perform them!  He trusted God, even  waiting God’s time.

God promised Abraham a son. Through this son, God would bless the whole world. (Gen.22:18)   However, God would have to do something extraordinary, for the promised son was to come through his wife Sarah, who was passed the age of childbearing.  Yet, Abraham counted God faithful who made the promise. It happened! (Heb.11:11-12)  He trusted God to enable a supernatural birth!

When God asked Abraham to offer this promised son as a sacrifice, he obeyed to the point of death.  He trusted that God could even raise Isaac from the dead to fulfill his promised blessing.(Heb.11:17-19)

Abraham’s walk of faith is a bright witness to all of us.  God can be trusted!  You and I will find him faithful as Abraham did.  He challenges us to trust and follow his Son.  God has a plan that counts for eternity.  I have found him faithful over many years; not because I am special, but because he is faithful as I followed him.  I encourage you to take the hand of Jesus, and find all he will do in and through you.
