“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.” (Phil.3:20-21 NIV).

“The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to revealed...We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.. For in this hope we were saved. (Ro.8:19, 22-24 NIV)

“Dear friends, now we are the children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he (Jesus) appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. (1 Jn.3:2 NIV)

These verses in the Bible tells us, as followers of Christ, we have a hope for our future.. When Christ returns he is going to transform us, giving us a new body; one like his very own, not a natural body as we have now, but a glorious body that will live forever. Even when this happens, it is the beginning of something new. It is the beginning of the liberation of the whole creation that has been under the bondage of death. God is making all things new! (Rev.21:5) .

This is the Christian’s hope! This is to encourage us to live and work for that which lasts forever. We are to live our lives with the sure knowledge of the greater and wonderful things ahead. This is what every believer is moving toward. It is guaranteed by the Word of God.
