The angel said to the shepherds; “Do not be afraid.  I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This shall be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in clothes and and lying in a manger.(Lu.2:10-12 NIV)

The shepherds said: Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened...They hurried and found...the baby, who was lying in a manger.” (Lu.215-16) They had heard the good news, now they went to see. They found it was just like they had been told.

“When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child and those who heard it were amazed…” (Lu.2:17-18) The shepherds returned; glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.”

Each year we hear the same story. It has become a tradition with little excitement. It is so easy to just let the importance of it slide by. Just another holiday! Christmas season!  It is so important to hear what the shepherds are saying.  God is real and has sent a savior to help us. Does this challenge or encourage you to check it out; to find out if there is something real here; is it true for you?   The shepherds found out it was just as it was told them.  I know when I became serious about finding out if Christ, and this new life offered, was real; I found it was so.

If this message of Christ is just tradition to you, or you have never explored the Good News of Jesus. Go for it!  I have found it eternally worthwhile!
