“...I will ask the Father, and he will give you another counselor (Comforter, helper) to be with you forever--the Spirit of know him, for he lives with you and will be in you...I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you..”(Jn14:16,17,18 NIV)

There is a strong tendency to think that when we feel alone, when no one is with us; that we are alone. That is not the truth. We, as followers of Christ, have someone with us, sent from God, who will be with us forever.  Jesus said, I will not leave you as orphans!!  It is easy to live by outward circumstances, and miss the benefit of the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said, He is “living water;” like a spring of water in us welling up to eternal life (the life of God). He is like streams of living water that flows from within us.(Jn.4:10,14; 7:38)  I have heard testimonies of people put in prison, or other hard situations, who are strengthened during those times with such, peace and joy by the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Some say this type of relationship is only for special people.  The Bible does not teach that! Jesus promises the reality of the Spirit of God to all believers.  We all need his comfort and help; reminding us of God’s love and faithfulness; especially in difficult times.  These times come to us all.

Turn to Christ in times of challenge, trouble or loneliness.  The Holy Spirit is there to help, and we can boldly (confidently) say “The Lord is my helper! (Heb.13:6)  Draw on his presence, strength, wisdom and comfort. Spend some time in worship, thanking him for his help, love and faithfulness. He is there with and in you always.
