And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death--even death on a cross!  Therefore God has exalted him to the highest place and gave him a name that is above every name…” (Phil.2:8-9 NIV)

It is clear that his exaltation came, not because of his sonship only, but because the Son humbled himself and in obedience fulfilled God’s will. Jesus fully expressed God’s love for man in giving his life so we may be forgiven and share in the Christ’s life and eternal glory.

Now God’s eternal plan is “to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.”  “ be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment.” (Eph.1:10 NIV)   “ us a Son is given and the government (rule) will be on his shoulders...Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.  He will reign on David’s throne...from that time on and forever.  The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.” (Is.9:6,7 NIV)  Jesus came through the natural lineage of king David, but he was also David’s Lord. (Ps.110:1) Jesus is now sitting at the the right hand of God until his enemies be brought under his authority. WOW!

In coming to Jesus Christ, Christians have come into his kingdom; his rule. (Col.1:12-13)  God has qualified us to share in the inheritance of this kingdom. Our sins are forgiven and we are called to follow the Lord Jesus in walking the same way he walked while on the earth.  “ you have obeyed...continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.” (Phil.2:12-13 NIV)  God will not fail as we walk this way of trust and obedience. He is faithful!
