THE HEART OF JESUS! 10-26-2014

Here is a passage quoted from Heb.10:5,7. “...a body you prepared for me...I have come to do your will, O God.”  Then Jesus prays, “I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.” (Jn.17:4 NIV)  Christ had been given a body and he was born to do God’s will, and in finishing his work, he glorified God.

Jesus said, “My food is to do God’s will and finish his work.” “I always do those things that please my Father.” “Whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.” (Jn.4:34,8:29,12:50)

Here is someone different. The apostle Paul called him “the second man.” (1Co.15:47) Adam was the first man, but all who followed him were just like Adam.  Jesus was unique.

We, the church of Christ Jesus, are called the body of Christ. The apostle tells us we are  many membered and we told that “Christ is in us” through the presence of the Holy Spirit.  What is our calling?  To do God’s will!  He has given each of us a body and also “foreordained” good works to do.  These good works will vary according God’s purpose.

The attitude of Jesus was to humble himself and became fully obedient. Because of this, “God has highly exalted him.” (Phil.2:8-11)  As we humble ourselves and follow Christ, God will work in us, guiding and strengthening us to fulfil his will for our lives.

With the world’s influence all around us, our tendency is to live self-centered lives, but God calls us to live differently.  Follow Christ!
Choose the heart of Jesus: choose his way. The end result will be exaltation and sharing the glory of Christ forever.
