(Jesus), “...being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death--even death on a cross.” (Phil.2:8 NIV)  Jesus speaks; “No one takes it (my life) from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again.  This command I received from my Father.” (Jn.10:18 NIV)

God had given Jesus a command with promise. Lay down your life and take it up again.

So he humbled himself and became obedient to his Father’s will.  It was an obedience of faith. God had spoken and he trusted God that he would see it happen just as God said; and it did!

God calls us to live the same way. “the just shall live by faith.” (Heb.10:38)  We obey God because we believe. He give us promises of lasting fruit as we follow; obey him!  He has promised eternal glory with Christ as we suffer (be faithful) to his calling on our lives.  The eternal kingdom that will never pass away is promised to those who embrace Jesus as their Lord.

The apostle challenges us to “offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness.” (Ro.6:13 NIV) and “...I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship.” (Ro.12:1 NIV)

God loves us and will do the best with our lives. He will always be there to help, encourage and be our strength.  The challenge is to trust him, humble ourselves and follow him; obey him.  We will honor God and win in the end!
