THE LIGHT OF GOD! (Part #3) 4-6-2014

“...the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Gal.5:22-23)  This is the fruit of the Spirit of God that we are encouraged to pursue in our lives. True Christians have been “Born of the Spirit” (Jn.3:3,5-7), “indwelled by the Spirit” (1Co.6:19)  and are encouraged to be “filled with the Spirit“ (Eph.5:18-20).  We are “New Creations” in Christ. (2 Co.5:17)  This is a big thing to God.  Jesus came to earth to free us from the penalty of sin (eternal separation from God) and to bring us into a new relationship with God. It is so much greater than just a new set of commandments to keep and rituals to observe.

The apostle tells us; “For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.” (2 Co.6:16 NIV)

“For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.” (2Co.4:6 NIV)

This good news is for everyone who will come to Christ. It is offered to all.  As we choose to trust and follow him, learning of him; the light of God’s truth becomes a reality.  The Word becomes not just a teaching, but it becomes alive in us. We experience the very fruit of God’s life.  Many things come along to hinder this process, but as we recognize this truth, we can better resist these distractions and keep our eyes on Christ and his purpose. God’s unmerited favor; his Grace, will accomplish this and bring praise God.
