“ these last days he (God) has spoken to us by his Son who he appointed heir of  all things...” (Heb.1:2 NIV)  “A voice came from the cloud, saying, ‘This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.’” (Lu.9:35 NIV)  “We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.” (Heb.2:1 NIV)

There are so many voices today from radio, television, the internet; they are verbal, pictorial.  In all kinds of ways they want our attention.  They feel their message is important.  However, words like those mentioned above make me stop and ponder.  God has spoken!  By his Son!  We need to listen!  Take it seriously so we don’t drift away from the message!  Is it serious?  Yes!  Why?  He speaks of eternal life and eternal death.

Some may immediately bring up of their church, synagogue, Mosque attendance; their giving to good causes; helping in fund raisers.  Some may speak of their past experience of accepting Christ as their savior.  Others may tell us that they leave these things to pastors, priests and doctors of divinity to figure out, and let them know. Still others think that no one really knows, so do the best you can and take your chances.

The Bible tells us God has given us light.  God has spoken by his Son!  There is a message from God to you and me.  He tells us to listen.  We are challenged to stop, take time and really consider what he says.  It is important!  Give it careful attention so you don’t drift away.  The danger is in drifting; drifting is slow and many times we don’t realize it is happening.

Let’s take these words seriously.  Read the scriptures and listen slowly.  Ask the Lord to show you his way and will, so it will be real to you.  God’s true way is promised to bring a reality, an assurance, that it is true.
