We all must change our minds 5-1-11

“...now he (God) commands all people everywhere to repent.” (Acts 17:30 NIV)  This is strong language from the apostle Paul as he speaks to this group of people in Athens, Greece.  Paul tells us that God has overlooked (put up with) our misconceptions of God in the past, but now God commands.  Wow!  This is pretty serious.  There is only one true God demonstrating himself down through ages past; now he demands that we open our hearts to the truth.  We need to humble ourselves and change our mind about God.

Who is he speaking to?  All people everywhere!  All over the world; N. & S. America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and all the Isles of the sea.  All people everywhere!  Even now; 2000 years later, God is still calling people to repent; to change their mind and come to the one true God.  The apostle Peter tells us clearly that the Lord is not slow about what he has promised, but “he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Pet.3:9 NIV)

Why is God so clear and definite about the matter of repentance; change of mind?  Again Paul makes it clear; “For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed.  He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead.” (Acts 17:31 NIV)  This man is Jesus Christ!

Finally, Paul, says; “I have declared to both Jews and Greeks (all men) that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.” (Acts 20:21 NIV)  The same man that God has chosen to be our judge, can now be our savior; one who freely forgives our sins and gives us a new life.  All mankind will face judgment one day. Now the message of forgiveness and life is available.  God commands all to change their minds and come to his Son for his free gift.  Otherwise, we face a judgement without a savior.  Let’s obey God’s command!
