“The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come!”  And let him who hears say, “Come!”  Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.” (Rev.22:17 NIV)   “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (Jn.3:16 NIV)

I was told, years ago, about a gospel outreach where they were preaching Jesus and the free gift of eternal life. They invited people to come and receive this gift. On this invitation one lady came forward to pray, but because of the way she was dressed, they would not pray with her.  By their actions, salvation was not free; the cost was the right dress.

When the good news was presented to me years ago, I simply prayed, asking for his forgiveness because Jesus died for me. I had no emotional experience. I wondered, “Is this real?  A few days later, as I was sharing with two other men that I had come to Christ and had become a follower of Jesus.  Suddenly, I was filled with a great joy that I had never known before. I thought I would explode!  This Jesus was real!

It is so important not to put hindrances in the way of people coming to Christ.  People are not saved because they read the Bible, go to church, change their religion, get religious, keep certain rules.  People  are forgiven and changed as they come to Jesus, the one who died for them and rose from the dead.  He is alive.  If you are are thirsty (you desire); if you wish (want to) then come to Christ and freely drink of the water of life.  He will not turn you away.  You are beginning a new life with him.
