WISE OR FOOLISH! 2-26-2017

A Missionary once said: ”He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.”

At the end of his sermon on the mount, Jesus makes a challenging statement. “...everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who builds his house on a rock...everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.” (Mt.7:24-27 NIV)

Here we see two men one who hears God’s word, embraces it for his life and begins to walk in the teachings of Christ. Notice, he may not be perfect, he may fall down at times, but he continues to build on the truth of Christ.  The contract is the man who hears, but does not take it to heart He may even give it lip service, but does not make

adjustments to follow Christ’s way.  Both are battered by storms (difficulties). One collapses and the other stands.

We, as true Christians, are called to give our lives to Christ and follow him. He is called the “Good Shepherd” to leads his sheep (us).  He is the way, the truth, and the life! He wants us to give attention to his word, to live our lives pleasing him more and more. He is always around to help us as we choose his way, and to keep us steady when we might stray.

Let us choose to be his disciple, following his ways and fulfilling his plan for our lives.

“Our house” will stand now, and for eternity. “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God planned in advance for us to do.” (Eph.2:10 NIV) .
