Probably most would agree that we live in a “fast food” society.  So many things we can get instantly and that’s what we like.  Sometimes our tempers can get rather short if it doesn’t come that way.  We like it fast!  If it doesn’t happen quick, we move on to something else.

Notice what King David says; (Remember this is KING David. He can have anything he wants, when he wants it.) ”But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.”(Ps.131:2 NIV)  Again, “I lift up my eyes to you, to you whose throne is in heaven.  As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master...so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till he shows us his mercy.” (Ps.123:1-2 NIV)

Why take the time to quiet ourselves?  We are honoring him who is God.  We are putting ourselves in a place to communicate, especially hear from God himself.  Most of  us can quiet ourselves outwardly, but it takes time to get quiet within.  Is.40:31 tells us wonderful things that can happen as we “wait” on the Lord; renewed strength, and moving ahead without faltering.  Let’s listen to David’s challenge; set aside time to honor God by becoming still inside before him  You may say “I don’t have time.”  Of course you do!  All have time for things we deem important.  And it is important to worship God this way.

Find a hymnal, and start singing.  Even if you are off key, it will sound good to the Lord as you sing to him. Quiet your soul, talk to him. Read a Psalm; how about Ps.100?  Make is a priority. If you honor him, he will honor you with his manifest presence.
